Experience

I have over 25 years of teaching writing and communications, and 6 years as an Academic Adviser at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. In addition, while receiving my Masters in English from Temple University, I worked as an Writing Workshop Specialist at Temple University, and established a cadre of students who requested to work with me specifically. I also taught introductory Writing during that time. I've worked with hundreds of students through several years of experience at the Writing Workshop at the University of Illinois. My experience working with students includes academic paper writing undergraduate and graduate), various kinds of essay writing, and creative writing. Using my Ph.D. in English, I also have experience teaching business and technical writing, creativity, and introductory writing. A few things that set me apart as an outstanding tutor, I'm a Nationally Trained instructor for the Engineering Ambassador Program (developed at Penn State University).This training has afforded me the opportunity to work with many students to develop their communications, writing and presentation skills in the areas of science, technology and engineering. In addition, I have a private writing coaching practice which involves private coaching, grant writing and leading writing groups. Teaching writing in all forms and with all types of students has been a passion of mine since my first job in 1989 at Temple. Enabling students to write, regardless of their level of expertise, is a privilege for me, because writing empowers students. Words are power, and being able to express one's self with confidence is a critical life skill.
