EducationI graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in December of 2013. I currently work for the university as a laboratory manager of cognitive neuroscience research.
ExperienceI have tutored high school and university students while in college, focusing on scientific topics and languages such as Russian and English. I received a score of 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam. I took classes such as Calculus 3 as a freshmen in college, Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, and Russian. In addition, did research in a material science engineering and inorganic chemistry lab for three years as an undergraduate. After studying Russian for three years, I lived in Ukraine and became conversationally fluent in Russian.
I believe that the most important part of being a tutor is to be flexible and available for my students; I want to help them in any way I can. My tutoring philosophy and schedule is tailored to each student's needs and my focus is on their specific learning style. My aim to motivate students so they become confident in the topic by increasing proficiency.
My schedule is flexible and I live near the UIUC Campus, so I prefer to meet students in that area. I understand that it is important to establish a good teacher/student relationship, so feel free to contact me so we can talk about your learning goals.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions!
HobbiesI am very interested in the intersection of languages and science, specifically Russian to English scientific translation. As a native English speaker, I love teaching English and writing skills. I have many friends from all over the world, and frequently review and edit their papers, as well as teach them English. I am passionate about teaching and will do whatever it takes to help my students.
